First off, after reading this article, it sort of scared me. Scared me for the fact that it maybe true. Time is the greatest enemy for these groups. But, I figured, that as long as there are fans then time has nothing on the Backstreet Boys, or any other group. It's been said by them so many times; if it weren't for the fans, they wouldn't be where they are.

It is true the the Backstreet Boys have gained adult fans, but it is also true that some (if not most) are ashamed of it or hiding it. Why? That's all I've got to ask. Music has no age category. No one is gonna sue someone or blame someone for liking a certain artist or group. I just guess it's because of all the stereo type.

I just wanna second what Howie said, that their music, God willing, will still be heard for milleniums to come. I mean, how long has it been since Elvis has been dead or since the Beetles have gone their separate ways? THEY still have fans, their MUSIC is still being listened too. I know 'milleniums to come' is a long stretch but time has not destroyed their music and time will not destroy the Backstreet Boys' music. Ofcourse, I say this because I'm a Backstreet Boys fan, but it can also count for other artists and groups out there, it all depends on the impact they make with their music and their presence.

I don't understand why everyone is getting so worked up about

this article! If anything, it makes it obvious that out of

all the cheesy boybands, the Backstreet Boys are the most

likely to have lasting success. Sure, she made that nasty

comment about what Howie wrote in his liner notes, but did

all of you guys read far enough to see all the really good

things that Johnny Wright (of all people!) said about the

boys? He said that they were growing with their fans and

that they were presenting a more mature and edgy image and

music. Sure, the author might have been doubtful but she

bought into it enough to put all of those quotes in there!

Bottom line is that it may have been a harsh article towards

all the boy bands, but that once again, our Boys came out on

top!

I was soo mad when I read this article. I think that for you to be so closed minded as to determin how long the bsb will be around is b.s. If us fans stick together and the BSB choose to continue as a group and continue making beautiful music they will be around as long as they choose to. Who are you to judge them and give such a closed minded opinion. I liked them ever since I heard QPG and I didn't even know how they looked like. Many people think that us fans like them for their look it's all in the music and they have real talent. The true fans like them for their talent not their looks. Us fans will contiue to keep the BSB pride alive now and forever.

I love you BSB keep making music and be happy.

oh my gosh.....this article is so BS! are you doubting the backstreet boys??? Don't assume that girls will one day wake up and not like them or other boy bands. You never know what will happen, but your stupid, your dumb opinion doesn't matter because the Backstreet Boys have 5 wonderful amazing graceful voices! They are different from all the other boy bands..they are "unique in their own individual way." So you better not doubt on the Backstreet Boys how much longer then will be popular...to all the bsb fans out there, "as long as we love the bsb, as long as they'll be here" so just please remember that! keep the backstreet pride alive bsb fans! and Brian Littrell..I love you!

I did not like this article for one reason and one reason only, they totally disreguard the older fans and our numbers! While they may like to think that only teenagers and younger listen to the Backstreet Boys the are sadly mistaken. I am one of at least thousands of older than 25 fans. I am not ashamed to admit to anyone that I like their music. I have been to see them in concert and buy their albums and singles. I even wear my concert t-shirt with pride. I am not ashamed to admit I love their music I dont really care what they look like. When I bought their first cd I had no idea of what they looked like nor did I care. I bought the cd for the music and I can say that the Millennium cd has grow with them. I am looking forward to the new cd in the fall of next year. it is time for all the older fans to come out of the closet. Since when has it been a crime to admit that you like music reguardless of who the singers are!!! Come on fans speak up and let the world know that you exsist!

Well, like many of you I am saddened to see this type of article make it's way along the media "wires". I am also disappointed in the way that critics seem to generalize all Backstreet Boys fans as "teens with lots of money to spend".

I am a proud, 25 year old Backstreet Boy fan...who will not hide the fact that BSB is a formidable music force of the 90's and the future. They have grown so much; physically, emotionally, and musically. They have continued to WOW us with all that they do. Those who think otherwise are just blind to the fact that the Backstreet Boys do, in fact, have the talent that can harness a huge percentage of the world..male and female..into the phenomenon of the BACKSTREET BOYS...not the "boy band phenomenon". Continue to support these hard-working, young men because we all know that they deserve our respect along with our adoration =)

Thanks!!! =)

Well I first going to say is The one and only

backstreet boys are here to stay for a long time to come.Just because nsync or nkotb have

broken or falling apart dont mean the bsb is

cause they are the most wonderful, talented,

sweet, down to earth guys you would ever meet.

they dont only have teenagers or young fans.

they have alot lot of older fans.male or

felmale//black or white.they have fans every-

where around the would.and how can we say this or getting there in your minds.

THEY ARE NOT A BOY BAND..got it..They can

harmonize better then groups out today..

They have broken and shattered records

and pick of awards everwhere they go.Their

hearts are music and their fans,family..

SO LETS FACE IT-THEY KICK ASS AND BSB

IS NOT GOING KNOW WHERE-or inless they want

to stop.cause thats the only way>bsb -4- ever

I both agree and disagree with this article. I mean all great things must come to an end, but you will never be able to predict when, and trying to predict when is like picking someone out on the street who looks heathly and saying in 1 year they will be dead. You just can't do that looks can be deceiving. But then again all great legends come to an end. Take the great Areosmith. Yes they had it hard, but they prevailed only to slowly fade, but they did it after they had overcome when people thought that they would fail. Backstreet Boys/Nsync/98 Degrees/ and other up and coming boy band groups will more than likely never completely die out. I mean there will also be a precent of the population of the world that will always like them. Even if they do deminish in some parts of the world there are probally other parts that will take them in with open arms so to say. So it may be in the year 2000 or the year 2010 before the "boy band" phase is not as popular as it is right now, but it will never ever be over. It is just ridiculous to try and predict when it will end. Even though people try they never will know just what will happen in the future.

i think that if all the Backstreet Boy's fans stick together we can get the boys through this "crisis" and prove all

these people wrong, and prove to them that the Backstreet Boys are not a rerun of New Kids On The Block

Ok, I am very ticked off at this artical not just because it disses the Backstreet Boys but it also disses the legions of wonderful fans!

Critics say that only 10 year old girls like them. I'm 17 and 6 feet tall and know wears near little! also what they say is soooo SEXIST!!!!!! they say bsb won't last long because WOMEN like them what women like doesn't matter they change their minesall the time, they only like them for their looks (WITCH IS NOT TRUE) I love their music!! no matter what any fat 40 year old scrubby critic has to say!

because when "Quit playing games" single came out that was my fav song i listend to it all the time and I didn't even know that was the Backstreet Boys until i got the CD for christmas(1997) and i didn't even know what they looked like so the critics who say that can shove it up there a$$!

and how can they say bsb won't be around ok the *MEN* have all great voices write music..... (wow, Marlyn Manson is great! he will be makeing music forever, he just is the wonderfulist singer alive) *SARCASTIC* ya but he is perverted sucks!!!!!!!! cant sing worth $#**! but he will last forever I DON'T FRIGAN THINK SO!!!! MY GOD! HE URRRGGG!!!! HE IS TERRIBAL BUT CRITICS DON'T GIVE HIM CRAP!!!!

ok so if bsb just jumped around on stage like frigan retarded freaks and just screamed in a mike, they would be respected and great. (thats what critics seem to think)

but they never will be respected no matter how long there famous because they are 5 very talented men who sing in a group....it doesn't matter how good they are critics can only compare with earlier acts who were 5 or people in a group (who don't sound alike at all)

well if bsb ever reads this here is my message to them:

I RESPECT YOU, ALL YOUR FANS RESPECT YOU, AND THATS ALL THAT REALLY MATTERS (DOESNT IT) WHO CARES WHAT A 40 YEAR OLD SLOB SAYS ABOUT YOU...YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT CAREER IN THIS BUISNESS AND WILL LAST LONG.I AM A FAN AND ALWASE WILL BE A FAN, EVEN WHEN CRITICS SAY I WONT BE, I'LL PROVE THEM WRONG! AND SO WILL YOU! (i have already proved my family wrong they said i wouldn't like you by the end of 1997 i did. they said i wouldn't like you in 1998 guess what i did! and it is now 1999 and closing in on 2000 just 10 more days and i'm even more hooked) i've made it this far and so have you i hope you keep on making beautiful music. i'll keep on buying it!

ps

come to maine plus i love you brian i adore you!

ok sorry for writing so long i just wanted to get my opinion out! love all
