I think that you can look at this article in two ways. I am one of the BSB's hugest fans, so I take this offennsively because I like what I like and nothings gonna change that. But we are a teen market and we are swayed by others' opinions. So, I'll admit that one day it will end. All we can do is be there with them as they are continuing to make the best music that they can.

Hey there. I believe Nsync will be the band gone by next summer. I think a lot of Nsync fans that haven't gotten satisfaction from them because they've been kinda hanging low for a while, have gone towards the Backstreet side! (Which I love...**evil grin**.) But anyway, I don't think the critic can say much...they are always on the rock genre's side, unfortunately. Ya know one of these guys in rock bands (Limp, Korn, Kid Rock, Rage, etc..) are gonna do an overdose of drugs and die. Thats just what happens to those guys...take a look back at history's rock bands and see what you'll find out about em. Drug abusers who died by either an overdose or killing themselves. You know you'd never hear of a Backstreet Boy doing that. Because they are intelligent enough to stay away from that disgusting excuse of addiction. We all know the Boys will have to retire sometime...and the whole backlash thing...well every teenage guy started backlash when they came out. They are jealous of their GFs loving the BSB more than them, or they think that if they like the BSBs music their friends will think they are gay. Its peer pressure y'all, just like I said before. If there are any guys that are reading this and are fans, I'm sorry. And about the whole comparing Backstreet Boys to NKOTB, just stop right there. The fact is, the BSB have already surpassed everything that NKOTB ever accomplished. I think the BSB accomplished more in 2 years than NKOTB did in 6 years. I can't believe anyone would compare the BSB to Nsync or 98*...face it, the BSB made the pathway for all these new "hot" boy groups. The Backstreet Boys always have been, and always will be better than them. I also think that 10 years down the road a couple of the BSBs will become solo artists, they have even talked about it. But they will stay a group for as long as they can, and thats what makes me proud of them. I'm proud when I hear their song on the radio, when they say something funny on tv (**cough**brian!**cough**), when their album hit diamond status, everything they do makes me proud, and I'm never ashamed to say that I have Backstreet Pride *unlike some people.* They shouldn't have to worry what critics think of them...they really shouldn't. I want them to be happy in everything they do, and I wish them even more success. Keep the backstreet pride alive everyone!

Whoever wrote this article is so totally wrong. BSB will always be around no matter what. Even no they might not be as big as they are now their love for music and their dedication will always be remembered. But lets face it they are going to be around for a while so this isn't going to happen soon! As long as were here they will still be here. BSB FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't mind the fact that this article is writen what I strongly object to is the inferences made by it !!!! I am not a music lover based on Looks or charm . What is the lasting power in that for heaven sakes.. The Backstreet Boys are stong in their learning and continued growing in all sorts of areas involved in the art of music and singing !! They may be a "boy Band" but this middle aged Mom of 43 is no going to shut them down just over a magazine article that bites me saying I need to be a teen or an older fan to keep a good band on the charts !!!!

First of all I am a fan of the Backstreet Boys and I am not a teenager, far from it I am over 25 and proud to be a fan. I think that like the Beach Boys they too can expect a long life. The key here is to be able to appeal to a wide audience. The BSB have done that they appeal to all ages and I think because of this they will be around alot longer than any boy band. It makes me mad to hear them put in the same catagory as N"sync and 98 degress, please the BSB can sing and have talent in writing songs too. To say that the only fans they have are 17 and younger is a great mistake on this reporters part. She needs to get the facts first then write a real story!

Even though I am a hard core BSB fan, and have been asked numerouse times what happens when you don't like them any more???? I know just as well as any adoring BSB fan that one day they won't be on tour and have the number one selling record, even though I drad that day, I know it will come. But if you look back on anything with a few exceptions like madonna, elton Jon, and cher, nothing lasts forever! Trends and fashions change, just like music. I just don't think critiques need to be so quick to say oh they will be gone in a year or so, well why aren't they saying that about limp bizkit, or korn, they could come and go just as easily, their audience is going to grow up to, you don't see 30 year olds walking around listening to korn! The critiques also have to realize that the backstreet boys are people, they are going to grow older, and want to have lives themselves, they can't be on tour forever! But I know as soon as they aren't as popular all the critiques are going to say "I told you so",or "I could see this coming" well hello! what more could these boys do! they have had the best selling album ever! Have had numerouse number one hits all over the world have won almost every award there is to win, have been on about 6 or 7 tours, have made hundreds of television and radio apperances, and are the most popular and best selling artist of 1999! What more do they need to accomplish or do to prove that they are worthy of the amount of attention they get from their fans and that they deserve everything they get, and yes one day they won't be as popular but I know I will personally a long with thousands of other fans will always have the memories of the concerts of all their songs, and just how they could put a smile on our face! Yeah they might not be around forever but the amount of girls they have made happy in just a few years is enough for a life time! SO I think everyone all the music critiques and all the rock bands should just lay off, lets just see how long blink 182 are around! Maybe all those critiques should look back on thier child hood and think of who or what they were obsessed with, at the time it was the greatest thing, but now all their favorite groups are on VH1 "were are they now" but wasn't it still worth spending the money to see the concert, or to buy the shirt ir that poster!!! SO just lay off the backstreet boys and their fans! thank you Carli

Even before reading this article I have thought about all the "boy band" thing, eventually BSB and others will "die", but for BSB time works well I think. As they getting mature they got more serious listeners, people from 25- 50. These people are holding more money than all "fan" thing does, so they will keep 'em going. As well with getting "rich" they can do more expensive videos and shows. It is going to help them lots, if sure they are not going to come up with some very bright ideas. Fans like us will try to give BSB life, but bunch of fans can't help it. KTBSPA....

I think that article is a load of s***! BSB has such a diverse (and large!) fan base, that they won't die out soon. I mean, their albums are going

I think that the writer of that article is exaggerating a little bit. Sure, they'll probably lose some fans, but I don't really think that in six months, the whole boybands think is gonna be over.

Even though it pains me to write this and I know people have so many different opinions on this matter, I think that the Backstreet Boys will indeed eventually fizzle out. If one pauses to think about it, it really is inevitable. Just look at other groups like New Kids, and other teen stars like Johnathen Taylor Thomas. I remember when everyone thought he was the hottest guy around, and the New Kids were the hottest group around -- I was one of the people with this opinion! A backlash will happen. The only group I can think of that survived this future was the Beatles. They started of as a teen band, and then became legends. But in order to do this, and have the staying power that the Beatles had, The Backstreet Boys would have to create and innovate instead of copy other styles, which is what they do now. Only time will tell what happens to these guys.
