I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! We should thank them for making beautiful music, and for doing what they do.

Ok, I hope ppl won't get pissed at me for posting this here, but I feel that it needs to be said. When it comes time for BSB's next album, I pray to god that ppl aren't planning to buy 2 copies or whatever just so the boys can beat the record. That's tacky and petty and pathetic and my opinion, but I thought I'd say it anyway. Doing that proves nothing. Albums are recorded so that people can buy and enjoy the music. Not so that artists can play games and compete with eachother and see who can set the highest record. So please think twice about doing that or about buying Millennium again on Tuesday. BSB are out there to do their thing, not to compete with anyone else. It's something that they stand for. We as their fans should remember this.

well,i agree that some people don't treat them with respect. but i also think that saying hi and walking on is NEVER going to happen! that is asking WAY to much! saying hi and thanks and asking for an autograph might work, but no matter how wrong it is nobody will ever say hi and walk on. sorry,but......no!

I agree with Lori soo much!! These guys have time and time again thanked us.. the fans... for sticking with them, and helping them reach the top. But who exactly has went up to them backstage,if they have had the chance, and tell THEM thank you instead of saying "Omigod.it's you!! I love you!!" or "Marry me !!" These guys have been through so much and everytime have thanked us, and i'm not saying everyone, but there are those one or two fans in every crowd that are just out of control. Instead of just watching them walk by and get the pleasure of actucally being there, they repay the guys pay pulling earings out of thier ears, taking their favorite necklaces, rings, sunglasses(in A.J.'s case) and hats. And i think that is just plain wrong!! And then in the concert, they deciced to flash them or throw bras and underwear on stage. I mean, do you acutally think that they kept that stuff?? do you think that they won't earse you flashing them on tape???if you just sit down and acutally think about it, pushing away how cute they are or how many records they make or how great their concerts are, and get down to the truth that these are REAL people just like you and me that have fulfilled their dreams. So, if you ever see them, tell them thank you. You just might be the one fan that they remember for a long time.

I applaud this article. It is a rare occurance to see or hear something treating these individuals with the respect they deserve and not just as icons for personal enjoyment. Yes, I am only 17 years old, but I am mature enough to know that these men are normal people who have normal lives and they just happen to possess a great talent. They describe their fans as "Larger Than Life" in their album, therefore it is important that we honor that title by giving them the privacy and personal space everyone is entitled to. They all have families, homes, and personal lives, and are in no way obligated to share those things with anyone. But out of the goodness of their own hearts, they chose to share their talent with the world. It is because of this that they deserve our utmost respect and our thanks for bringing happiness to so many people's lives. If ever you should come into contact with them, place say "THANK YOU" for their time spent with the rest of the world.

I totally agree with Lori Thompson and her articles on being a bsb member. I have many times in the past smiled, say hi etc to various famous people. They need their privicy

I love this article. Thank you so much for writing it. People do need to realize that celebrities have lives too. It doesn't only apply to Backstreet Boys either. Even normal people should be treated the exact same way. I remember last year I had a huge crush on a fellow singer from a choir at another school. I completely forgot "the rules" (I happen to live by those rules) and I completely made the hugest fool of myself. If people nowadays just had respect for other people, the wirld would be run a lot more smoothly. Thanks again for the best article I've read in a while.

Well mostly I agree with what Lori said. But you have to remember - the guys are not just doing this for us...they are doing it for themselves too. It's great to like them. But when you become too crazy over them...it's not what they want. They just want to make music, be famous, be rich.

Okay, there's something that's kinda been getting on my nerves here. I agree 100% with this article, but some of the responses to the article have been bothering me. Some of these people have been accusing ALL (yes ALL- every single one) of the younger fans of being the insane obsessed ones. That is untrue. I would never do a thing like that to them, and I'm 12. Trust me, I'm not stupid, and I'm certainly not immature. I've met people on the internet who I've talked to for months and THEN told them my age after I knew them well enough. They all thought I was at least 17 just by talking to me. That's also what bothers me about the mature fan club. It basically assumes that the only mature fans are the ones that are over 25, because from what I've read, that's how old you have to be to join.
