The first week out "Black & Blue" sold 1.6 million copies. Yes, it did NOT break the "No Strings Attached" record of 2.4. My point is that last time I checked, 1.6 was a hell of a lot bigger than 1.1. So, is everybody saying that they are less popular because they didn't beat *NSYNC? Puhleeze! That's pathertic! I happen to love both bands, and I don't care how many records they sell. Plus, everyone's in the buisness, not just pop groups. Well, enough said? Just think about this! A recent update showed that over a 100 people have joined this, and have made a difference in lots of Radio stations, and even TRL. BSB were number one today. It's time that we show Backstreet fans ain't backing down!!! KTBSPA!!! They are five of the most talented guys this world has seen. They have amazing personalities like no other. They rule our hearts. Of course, I m talking aboutt he Backstreet Boys. Now, what I have to say is really important to me. Some of you may agree with it and many of you will disagree with it. But, when reading this, I want you to clear your mind of all opinions and see if what I am sayingis fact, or not. To us, Black and Blue was amazing. Yet, to critics (who I don t personally care for,but many listen to their opinions), selling 1.6 million in the first week was a disappointment . Have you noticed the immense number of articles stating that pop music is fading away? If you think about it, *N Sync really is getting more press time and attention then BSB. Right now, I have to beg my local radio stations to play BSB, while they are going crazy trying to fit in all the *NSync that they can. *N Sync s Pop hasn t come out yet, and already there is a major fanbase for it. If you think back to 1998, you could ask ANYONE who was dominating the pop world, and they d say BSB, *N Sync, Britney Spears, andChristina Aguilera . Today though, there isn t anyone like that. You see, BSB isn t doing bad. They are just doing a little worse (number-wise) then they used to. See, though critics don t like them, they expect nothing less than the best from them. For example, when I confronted a local radio DJ about why he doesn t play The Call , he said because it wasn t doing good on the charts. When I got to thinking about this, I realized that it wasn t actually doing badly on the charts; it was just doing badly in comparison to other BSB songs. Yet, this is seen as them fading away. You see, in our BSB world, we continue to think of them as the almighty kings of pop music. But, the public is slowly losing that view. No, it is not supposed to be about how many records they sell, or whether they top TRL. It is supposed to be about the music. Unfortunately, we live in a world where numbers do matter and the rest of the world judges their success upon this. And yes, I m sure the guys don t mind having number ones. My basic point is that no, they are not fading away. They are doing incredible, but not as great as they have done in the past. Their careers are at a point where it should be going uphill, not downhill. I start to think about why things are going the way they are. The boys are doing all that they can. They continue to make amazing music. I thought, maybe the world no longer wants pop, but that is not true, just look at *N Sync. You see, regardless of what is happening, change is always possible. How, you ask? Easy. An old saying is that power is in numbers. Look at how many devoted BSB fans you know and are out here. We need to pull together and unite for our boys. I think that it is wrong that I am wanting to do this, to help them sell more records or beat *N Sync. But, face it. That is the way the music industry works. My idea is this. We ALL join together. There are literally MILLIONS of us on the internet, alone. Each of you that want to join me in doing justice for our boys, send me your e-mail address. My e-mail is MSweetie86@aol.com Every couple of days, we ll pick a radio station or a voting poll or something that we can all go and vote for, just once or twice. Imagine a radio station that only receives a couple of requests a day for BSB, which all of a sudden gets 500. Naturally, they are going to realize that a lot of people out there want BSB. You see, if people continue to ignore the talent of BSB, not only does it look bad, but BSB s careers will go down. Say TRL thinks no one wants them on, they aren t going to invite them. I know BSB doesn t care about numbers, but they d probably be really upset if this happened. Once again, I want to say that in no way do I think BSB is doing bad. I think they are remarkable, but they have so much potential. Remember, you might think that you, being one person, can t make a huge impact on BSB. But, we as a WHOLE have proved that WE can (we got the pop craze going, we got the amazing record-breaking numbers for BSB, etc.). WE must get up and support the most important thing of our lives.
