They didn’t make it sound so bad. Then, when I turned on the ten-o’clock news and “TRL”, and saw Nick and Kevin crying, I knew it was awful. I have to admit, I cried for quite a while last night, AJ. I was really mad at you for doing this to yourself. Then I realized that it couldn’t be your fault, and the tears came harder. Thank God you had the courage and strength to know you needed help. Through my tears, I looked at the poster on my wall. My radio was playing “Shape Of My Heart”, and your voice sang, “You can save me from the man that I’ve become”. It’s true, AJ. With the help of your family, friends, and fans, you can be changed. We will stick by your side through it all, be fans and friends to the end, and always love you for being AJ. When I saw “TRL” again this morning, I felt the tears again. I watched the crowd tear up—even the people who didn’t seem like Backstreet Boys fans. Carson was crying, and that’s quite an unusual thing. And then, as Kevin, Brian, Nick, and Howie lost their control, I didn’t feel so strange crying alone in my house. Sometimes tears are exactly what the soul needs to cleanse itself. AJ, you are in my heart and my prayers. I really had a whole lot of emotions going through me. Most important note- I'm still the same BSB fan I will always. But, I can say that I was very saddened by the fact that he had so much pain in him and no one really knew about it. AJ's very lucky to have such great brothers- Nick, Howie, Brian, and Kevin who support him and his decisions. I wish there was something that could get him better, but I know depression, anxiety, and alcoholism are much more complicated than they appear. I'm still in a mind blow about the whole thing, but I know that AJ will make the right decisions just like he did on Saturday. My prayers go out to AJ and Nick, Kevin, Brian, and Howie.
