This is good - you've managed to take the first step - action. I have several people in my life that I love who battle similar challenges. Think of the outpouring you are receiving from family, friends and us unknowns - we want to be your strength - let us do that for you. It's strange how we care - and although you don't know us, we've been fortunate enough to learn a little bit about you over the years. I know the group struggled with divulging the truth - but this is real, this is true and we can't place rose colored glasses on the world - the youth need to see and understand that we're all human and need support. On another note, we're not all young teenagers - I'm a 34 year old mom. At times my friends give me grief, but I don't shy away from the fact that I thouroughly enjoy your music. The fact of the matter is, many of my friends (including the ex-husband - a 34 year old man) admit that they too enjoy your gift. It's the stigma - the teeny bopper, pop craze - but the truth is, we're all still buying your music - even if they're doing so secretly. My 2001 concert tour include(d)s U2, Barenaked Ladies, Matchbox20/Train and hopefully, yours truely. But also know this - no one wants to see you on the road until you're ready. No one wants to see you fall. We all stumble and we're here to help keep you stedy - but it's your feet you need to stand on - you need to think of you. I waited almost five months to finally find out that I did indeed have tickets to the B&B tour. I was to say the least estatic ! The next morning to my dismay I got phone calls from everyone I know saying that it was cancelled. I of course figured it was a sick joke.
Well as we all know it was not a sick joke, but instead a harsh reality, that these people are "real" and have real problems.
I want to commend the BSB for their brutal honesty, and laying it on the line. They looked us in the eye and told us the truth. I am proud to say I am a fan. I hate it when the industry tries to make us look stupid. I heard that the BSB were advised to LIE to us, but I am glad and thankful that they chose to be honest . All the power to you guys. Thank you.
A.J. you have taken the first step, and we are all proud of you, and back you 110%. Get healthy man, and get your butt up to Canada..... we are so anxious to see ya again.

HEY AJ!! Your a great guy!! I love you soooo much!!! You mean alot to me! I really wanna say that you really inspire to sing! You have a great voice. AJ you are sooo awesome!! I fell so bad for you!! Im so happy for you though, cause that takes alot of guts to say that you have a problem and then check yourself into rehab. I really wish you the best of luck! Get well hunny!! I understand what you're going through right now. I've seen what this can do to a person, because I lost my dad to it seven years ago. You could be scared right now, but there is no need to be. You've got a beautiful guarding angel watching over you, God's hand to lead you down the road to recovery, and all your friends, family, ands fans' love to support you. Before you know it, you'll be back on stage doing what you love and what you do best. You will be forever in mine and my mom's thoughts and prayers.P.S. Dear AJ,
I have so many words that I need to type that everything in my mind is a jumbled mess. I don’t really know if you will ever read this, but I wanted to try anyway. First off, you mean the world to so many people. We are all praying for your health and recovery. You see, most fans don’t truly know you. But, you’re real. You’re someone we can look up to, because of your numerous accomplishments and your amazing qualities. That’s why this event has touched so many of us. It has helped us to understand a little bit of life and also to understand that if we ever have a friend in this situation, we need to help them.
You mean so much to me. I went to my first concert, a Backstreet Boys concert, on July 9, 1998. I went in, not knowing your names, and I came out obsessed. I didn’t just like you because you were cute (though you really truly are handsome) or because it was the “cool” thing, but because you touched my life. You gave me a passion, a thirst for music. These days, I live music. You are now not only my idols, but my inspiration. My dream is to become a singer/performer. When I listen to you singing, my strongest desire is to make someone else feel the way I do. I admire your positive attributes and relate to some of the negative ones. Though I may never meet you, you have changed my life forever, starting with making me truly love something to helping me choose a career path.
I want you to know how much you have done for us, the fans. You have affected so many lives, in so many ways. We feel like we understand you and that you are there for us. You are an amazing role model to people that love life, but are normal. We all have problems, yet you’ve helped so many people overcome theirs. We are praying that maybe something we do can help you in turn.
When I first heard this news, I wondered, “Why? Why did this happen to someone so incredible, someone who has saved so many lives and done so much good.” It hurts inside, to see the people we cherish all torn up like this. But, by stepping forward and getting help, you have encouraged people to conquer their problems and to get help.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for everything that you have done for me. You as well as Nick, Brian, Kevin, and Howie will always be in my prayers. Keep The Backstreet Pride Alive! Best wishes for your health and recovery.

I’m a backstreetboys fan and I come from Italy.When I readed the news about your problem,I cried so much,because I’d never have imagined such a thing.However I am sorry for you and I think it doesn’t need to lose heart in any case.You must have the strength to go on.An advice? Stop drinking! It’s easy to say it but it’s hard to do.I have confidence in you and I think you’ll be able to solve this problem.The only thing I can do for you is to pray God.I hope you’ll be better soon, very soon.Finally I wanna tell you that you’ aren’t alone.Your family, your friends(included Nick,Brian,Howie and Kevin)and your fans(included me,when I think about you)will stay close to you.

Hey hun! Once I heard the news from your band mates, it was a true shocker! When I saw Kevin start crying on TRL it made me start! When each of your bandmates said something about your condition and what lead up to the decision, I began to realize this was for real and I'm glad you're gonna get help and be okay. I give you the up most respect for you making the decision of going into rehab. That takes a lot of courage and you definitely proved you were ready to make a change in your life for the better.
I also heard that your grandmother died and I give my sympathy and condolences to you and your family. I recently went through that same experience except it was my grandfather. He and I were very close, as I'm sure you were with your grandmother. His funeral was just this past weekend and it was a hard time for everyone. And I'm sure that the incident with your grandmother didn't help the matters much.
I know that your bandmates and fans are behind you 100%. I wish you all the luck and don't rush yourself through this, even though I won't be able to see you unitl September 20th in Detroit, I would rather have you healthy and there than you not be there at all.
AJ you are someone I will truly admire for making such a hard decision, but I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say that we are all glad you are doing this, so you can become a better and healthier person!

A.J. I love u so much, as a fan! I know u can make it through and I think I speak for all the fans when I say that the concert we are attending can wait as long as it has to as long as you get better. I know you will get better because, you are a great person and trying to get help is a huge acomplishment within itself. I love BSB and as for a person that I have never met, you have always been a huge inspiration to me. You are one of the biggest people in my life, even if that seems dumb, but u are and I cant wait to see you doing better.
