I just heard on MTV:UK the guys talking about your problem.
I think what you have done is amazing, you have admitted that you have a problem and that you need help and that the biggest obstacle to overcome.
I do know kind of what you are going through and I know that right know it seems hard and like it isn't going to end, but believe me it does get better and it does get easier.
You are in a priviliged position in some ways cos there are thousands and thousands of fans out there to help you through this difficult time and we are always going to be here for you, you just need to read this board to see how many people believe in you and believe that you are all going to get through this hard time. We all believe in you.
Remember that all of us fans are behind you 200% and of course so are your family and Nick, Bri, Kev and Howie
I know this will get better for you and it will eventually bring you all even closer, take care and keep smiling :)

Here's a poem I wrote this morning for AJ
AJ, we thought that you were
"larger than life",
We couldn't see how
That caused you such strife.
Now we see,
you're just like us all..
Sometimes we're up.
sometimes we fall.
"We'll never break your heart
We'll never make you cry."
AJ, we want you to be happy,
You just have to try.
"Sadness is not beautiful
and loneliness is tragic"
AJ, we know that
you haven't lost your magic.

Dear A.J.
I have been following your career since the very beginning! I probably haven't been a very loyal fan over the last couple of years, but I have still been a fan! I grew up and didn't have the need to follow your every move anymore, I probably thought I was getting to old for that sort of thing! But when I heard the news I was blown away, I never thought anything could happen to you. (guess I wasn't so old after all!!!) Every thing made me realice that no one is beyond pain, no one can be happy all the time no matter how much sucees they have, not even you! Your music help me through some rough times, well your music and my friends! I hope that you have every thing you need to get through this! I don't know you and I won't pretend to, but I know that you have a few million people cheering for you and I will be one of them!
I'm sorry that this happend to you and I wish you all the luck in the world to conquer this!
A few years ago I wrote you a poem, but I never sent it! Now I will!
Tenderness.

Aj we are all thinking of you. This must be a very difficult time for you but us fans hope you will feel better soon.
You should feel proud that you have firstly realised you have a problem to your friends and family, but most of all to yourself. Now you will be able to deal with it in your own time and in your own way.
Everyone is here for you AJ and the fans are here for Nick, Brian, Kevin and Howie too.
The fans are here to support you all through the good and bad times just like you are there for us.

Dear AJ~
I haven't been a huge fan of yours, actually not really a fan at all. I went to a concert a while back of the bsb with my younger sister, because she is totally 'in love' with Bryan. When I heard this news I was sad, but not devastated like some fans are going to be. I know this must be quite hard for you to deal with, it's a disease and you are strong to admit you've got a problem. That's the first step. I do know what your family and friends must be going through, because my dad is an alcoholic. He just won't admit he is one because he is too proud to get help, I suppose. Many nights he's passed out on the couch, and doesn't wake up until the next morning. A bomb next to his face couldn't have woken him up. I don't know how bad your problem has gotten, but hopefully not as far as it has with my dad. You are a wonderful person and I know you will find the strength to overcome this obstacle in life. You have touched so many people's lives, and hopefully, when you're better you can use this to an advantage, and be a spokesperson to help people realise that maybe, they have an alcohol problem, or even to gain more awareness of this. Thanks for reading this letter, and even though you personally probably won't read this, many fans will and maybe, it will help people to believe that they or a loved one can get help. AJ, you are in my prayers.

I think the hardest step for someone in your position would be admitting to oneself that you really need to get help, and you took that step, so i have faith that everything will be better soon. When I first heard the news, I honestly thought it was some sort of joke. I saw the show in Hershey, and everything seemed normal. Little did I know...
AJ(if you ever read this), take some sort of pride in knowing that you're not alone. You have fans who love you, group members who love you, and family who love you.
Also, admitting that you have a problem takes a great deal of courage. I hope that you can recover and become the AJ McLean that we all know and love.

I can't even begin to explain how proud Iam of A.J. Even though I don't know him personally, I know plenty of people in the same situation. Being in the public eye doesn't help the situation much either. But countless people in my family have experienced the same problem as A.J. He took a very bold step in admitting his problem. Admitting you have a problem is the very first step of becoming better. Recently, somebody in my family, who had been sober for a number of years, picked up drinking again. Under the stress of his job, and girlfriend, he needed something to ''take him away'' from all of that. Even though drinking wasn't the way to do so, he saw no other way out. Right now, he's making the same move as A.J. Believe me, I know how hard it is, and it's very important to have people in your life that care about you. In A.J's case, he has millions of people rooting for him. He just needs time away from his hectic lifestyle, and take a well deserved break. I respect his needs, and even though I'll be missing the BSB concert, which was the highlight of my summer, I can always see them again, With a happy, healthy A.J. on stage doing what he loves most, after he takes care of himself. Some people don't realize that his health is the most important thing. All of his fans need to respect that. He's doing this for himself, and also for you guys, so he can be happy and healthy again to perform for YOU GUYS, and you need to realize that. I'll be praying for you A.J. Good luck in whatever you do.

to the boysi know you guys get so much praise in how wonderful and beautiful you all are, which all is very true. i thank you from the bottom of my heart for the joy you bring to all the fans and to me...it's truly amazing. i was at the concert about a month ago in indianapolis. it was my 16th birthday. i thought that was so ironic that my favorite group would be performing on my most memorable birthday. my father made sure that i was able to go and to get decent seats. i was in awe the entire time. i had never been seated so close. the whole concert gave me chills because it was so awesome. but aj, you are truly a beautiful person, i know you will make it through these times. you are tough and strong. the backstreet boys need your overwhelming, rounding, and fullfilling voice to make the harmony complete. the lord has blessed you with amazing talent and the true you will shine through. god bless and all my wishes! Aj,
Everyone has their problems, but many are not strong enough to admit to them and get help. Getting help is not an easy thing for strong people to seek out. You have showed the world your strength even if it was by revealing a weakness. I know that what you are doing is not easy, but you should know that you have so many people with their support backing you up. No one can make all of this go away, but we can make sure that you know how much we care about you. Aj, you are loved and we will miss you until you are up to touring again.
