AJ, i know exactly what you are going through. i was diagnosed with a major depressive disorder almost a year ago. i really respect that you are being so open about. i hope that rehab and therapy will teach you how to love and be true to yourself. this might be the hardest thing you will ever do but you have people all around the world praying for a great recovery. i wish you all the best in your recovery.

To AJ,
I'm not sure if you will get to read this but I felt moved to send you this message. Firstly it takes a strong man to admit he needs help, and you have taken that first step. The road will be long, winding and difficult to follow. There is something you need to remember whilst you make your journey though, and that is to do this for yourself - not for anybody else as rehab will only help if you want to help yourself. That said you know that you have the support and friendship of 4 great guys and that your family are there for you. There is no need to tell you that all of the fans are hoping you make a complete recovery, but personally I want to tell you to take your time. If when your 30 days are over you still dont feel you are up to returning to the public eye then dont do it it, your health and sanity mean more than any tour.
Although I suffer from the same problems that you are facing I have been lucky not to have gone as far down the slippery slope as you, but I wish you luck - and please come back to us soon whole and healthy.
God be with you, and have faith he will help you in your hour of need.

- Morarji Desai ]]I have to be honest and say that I wasn't really surprised with the announcement. Yes, I was surprised that it actually happened, but it didn't surprise me that it DID. As I think about it, the signs were there. (IE: Diary and Spring Break '01)
I also know that it was your choice to drink. That you wanted something to ease the pain, and I could never blame you for that. Because, just like anyone else, your human. You needed something to feel numb - and you chose the bottle.
But it was YOU that went to the rest of the guys and asked for help. And it was YOU that allowed it to be shared with the fans. And for that, I hold so much respect for you.
I wish you nothing but faith, love and support in your recovery. We can't wait to see you on stage again, and when you do - we'll be along the cheer. We love you, AJ.

Aj and the boys of Bsb.....i know things might seem really hard rite now but all 5 of u will pull through this. Aj you are a very strong guy and u have tons of support. After watchin TRL yesterday and today it made me realize how close all of u are. I know how hard it is 4 the other 4 guys because im going through the same thing with my sister and its very difficult....but she admitted herself to rehab yesterday and im sure she can get better just like You can. Take care and feel better.

For so very long you and your music has brought me from heartache, loss of a cousin, and mere depression. You have already done so much for me that I would return the favor in a heartbeat. All of us as your true-hearted fans want to see you improve your health and help so many of us like you have done these past years. You are such an inspiration to many. Your strength and courage will not go un-noticed. You and the rest of The Backstreet Boys have come such a long way. You are always thank us fans for what we have helped you through, but we fans never express what you have helped us through. So many people,Backstreet fans or not, are behind you and supporting you throught everything that you do. I watch mtv everyday just so that i can hear updates on how you are doing. I have faith in you and your fellow Backstreet brothers. You can pull through this just like you have everything else. You have so many people praying for you. I know that you will get better. This is gonna be quick...
first, to all of the guys, especially AJ, thanx for being honnest, I know it must have been hard to admit but truth is always the best answer...
second, good luck to AJ, and to all of the guys too, I know this must be hard but this is just another step in your life... I'm sure you've been through a lot of hard stuff, so you'll be able to deal with this one too. Let's just hope this will make you grow stronger as a group, I really hopw it will!
