First off I want to say that you have been such a big inspiration in my life! You have taught me to be myself and be crazy and spontaneous and not care what other people think of me. I hope you get well real soon. I love you with all my heart and I'm praying for you every day.It's tearing me up inside just knowing your in pain but I have all my faith in God and I know he'll help you get through this. To all of you boys; Thank you for always beeing so honest with us. That is why we have so much respect for you. Dear AJ:When I heard the news about your illness, it just broke my heart. You are such a dear, dear person. I have had clinical depression (years ago), and I know the pain that accompanies it. The same can be said for the alcohol abuse. Experience has shown me, though, that these difficulties can be overcome with good medical care and good support. You have a mother who adores you, four brothers who would do anyting for you (Nick was crying on MTV when he talked about you and the other guys were great, too). It will take time, AJ, but you will get well (as I did). Meanwhile, you'll be able to resume your life (in music, especially the Backstreet Boys). Little by little, you'll get better and better. I was told that people affected by depression, anxiety, panic disorder, are VERY sensitive and caring people: that's why they are susceptible to these illnesses. Also, very intelligent and creative people are more prone to depression (and seeking to aleviate the pain with drinking). Some of the comments I've read here are a little silly: for instance, one person wrote she "won't be mad at you." That's not right. Mad at you. That's silly. Instead, your fans are proud of you and supportive and filled with love and compassion. You'll get well soon, AJ. Thank you for not lying to us, your devoted fans. I know that you will overcome this problem. I know that it probably seems hard right now but I know that you will get better soon. I just recently went to your concert on Friday in Boston and you as well as the rest of the guys were awesome! I look up to you and respect you for coming forth with your problem and confronting the guys about it. That was the best thing to do. Alex,I heard about your situation from a friend, because I didn't watch TRL that day. I've been trying to think of what I could say to you that hasn't already been said. All I know is that it must have been hard for you to go to the fellas and tell them that you needed help, which would require you take time off. I realize this took a lot of courage for you to do because admitting the problem is the first step and I hope you get better. But please don't rush back to the group because you need to take all the time you need to get better, I know that both the fellas, and your true fans will understand that. You are probably wondering why all these people that don't even know you care about what happens to you, well I can only answer that on a personal level. For me its because I have been a fan for six years and I feel that on some level I know you and I wish the best for you. Please remember that your family, friends, the fellas, and all your true fans will be with you every step of the way. You, your family, and the fellas will be in my prayers. Just please take enough time for you to get better.
