AJ,My thoughts and prayers are with you. It takes a strong man to admit to himself that he's got a problem but an even stronger man to admit it to others and want to get the help. It just shows what a big and strong person you really are. With the help of God, your mom, the Boys and your fans I know you can overcome this illness. For so many years you've been lifting your fans up through all the bad times. There have been many a time when I've been upset and I've turned on your CD only to find myself a happier person after I've listened. Now, let your fans do what you've been doing for us... lifting us up and supporting us. You have so much talent to offer, you've been blessed by God and I know that for years to come, you'll use that talent to your full ability. Take all the time you need. I'd far rather you get better than you come back on tour when you're not ready to do so. As my dad says to me "there's always next time" and I know there will be a next time for you guys. AJ, I know you can do it, I have complete faith that you'll pull through this. Take good care of yourself and remember all of the people that love and care about you. All you need is love! AJ, I don't know if you ever see any of the posts on this website, but if so, this is for you. I'm not much older, 28 to be exact, and I have been battling ALL my demons (addiction, depression, anxiety, insecurities, some too personal to post on a message board) for 14 years. If you do the math, you'd come up with the onset of my rollercoaster through ... (censored) at only 14 years old. Everybody, I don't care who you are, deals with some life-altering trauma in their life, but you, like me, are facing it at a fairly young age. If you are SERIOUS about change, you can achieve it, but you have to work at it with EVERY fiber in your body and soul. You will be much stronger afterwards so if, God forbid, in the future, you are faced with another of life's zingers, it won't seem like the impossible task. Sweetie, I care about your well-being (and not because you're a Backstreet Boy). If I knew you as an "average, non-celebrity", I would still be spending this much time to try to help you. It's what I do. People going through what we've gone through and ARE going through generally feel a bit more comfortable talking with a person that has experienced the same issues and has actually conquered it to the degree of being able to return to a normal and healthy lifestyle. For me, it gives me hope that there really IS a light at the end of that seemingly endless tunnel of darkness. It's there, just take it one step at a time and don't give up. You will most definitely have to make some changes to your lifestyle, but if you want peace bad enough, you will do it. Once you have an addiction severe enough, if you are able to break it, you will pretty much have to avoid that substance for the rest of your life. It's TOO easy to become readdicted at the slightest touch, especially if the addiction was a long-term one. Most importantly ... DO NOT allow yourself to become a recluse by shutting out those that love you. You need them. Everybody needs loved ones around them, whether they are blood-related family or a "family" of true friends. They are your lifeline. I've made all the mistakes I'm warning you about, which is why it's taking me so long to get back into the flow. You will know if something is not right. Don't quit life over it, but don't push yourself to a breaking point. If it comes down to taking a couple days off versus collapse/exhaustion/total breakdown/serious illness/etc., take the time off. So you miss a photo shoot or two ... big deal. I'm still not sure when music became a fashion show. Yes, you and the other Backstreet Boys may be easy on the eyes, but I had no clue what any of you looked like when I became a fan. Music has been the greatest passion of my life since ... uh ... well, birth. I sing, dance, and used to play the guitar and keyboards, until I had to sell them. I pride myself on being able to spot a true talent, and baby, you are. I feel your pain in more ways than you can imagine (no father growing up, only child, loss of a grandmother that I was extremely close to, etc.). I don't want to take any more of your time away from treatment, so I'll let you go. Last words of advice ... when you feel down, start thinking of as many positives you have in your life, as possible. You'll see they outweigh the negatives every time. There may be times when you have to be brutally honest and practically get in his face (AJ - I'm sorry to say that but it comes with the territory - remember ... I've been where you are), but don't hesitate. Sometimes people need that reality check to get back on track. I have an incredible friend that's not afraid to tell ME like it is when I get out of line. I argue for about an hour, but in the end, I do see the truth. I don't believe AJ would hate you for it. He'll see that if you didn't care about him, you wouldn't even waste your time. He'll see he's loved. Good luck to all of you. Unfortunately, I'm also on your end of the situation too, so I know how much it hurts to watch. I've been watching my baby cousin destroy himself for nine years. I'm praying for everybody in this situation (AJ to have the will to fight for LIFE not just existence, you four (and any of his other friends) to have the strength to stand by him, his family to have the ability to be supportive and not abandon him if more invention is needed, and to the fans to be understanding and allow AJ this time to help himself.)

What you did by putting yourself into a rehab center was brave and I am proud of you that you did that. I know it must have been hard for you, but its for the best! Everyone out here is pulling for ya! Show biz can be a bitch at times.. i know, i am starting new in it! keep on goin bc you have the stuff to make you a big star like you already are! I love you so much and i hope you get better. I know what i am righting could never make it better for you but i hope its a start. I know you can get through what you going through you are strong and you ave a lot of people behind you. I know you can do it.
